One of my heroes, Juan-Carlos Cruz, has been arrested for plotting a murder. The original Food Network Calorie Commando who helped me appreciate whole wheat pastry flour and reduced calorie eggplant Parmesan is accused of hiring two homeless people in Santa Monica to murder his wife. He was only planning to pay them $1,000 (how serious could he have been) and now he sits in jail on a $5 million bond. Maybe he should have remained fat and happy?

A Sad Week for Health Care in the US
Enough already! I’ve read everything Congress has deemed worthy to give us, and I’ve watched too many news pundits on the advantages and disadvantages of Universal Health Care. I give up! I’m sick of it! Uncle! Like most Americans who have tried to pay attention to this issue, Congress has worn me down and I’m ready to take whatever Congress deems is best because I’m just sick of the conversation, the arguments and the attitudes — of my Congressman.
It’s obvious our nation is going to get some form of watered down Universal Health Care/Insurance Reform whether we like it or not because the esteemed elected body in Washington has decided this is what is best for us — that would be best for “us” and not “them”!
Now that the Baucus Bill has passed out of the finance committee, OUR healthcare plan will be hammered out behind closed doors in dark rooms occupied only by the all powerful of Washington. Our time for imput has ended; and from these closed door sessions will emerge a document that will be voted on by 535 people and signed into law by one man that will impact the lives of more than 300 million Americans — and not one of them. Now that is American politics at its best.
